Lake Tahoe is that most exquisite of destination vacation spots, source of lovely high mountain living, and a wondrous place to spend hours and days of your time in this mountain lake environment. Lake Tahoe is a huge high mountain lake that is bisected by the California and Nevada borders almost right down the middle. The lake itself sits at an elevation of 6225 feet and has a surface area of 191 square miles, and 72 miles of shoreline. Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States, second only to Crater Lake in Oregon. At its deepest the lake measures almost 1600 feet deep. Cold clear water reaches into the depths of Lake Tahoe causing the marvelous reflections of deep blue that one finds on clear summer days while gazing down on the lake from the mountains above.

Lake Tahoe is known for its wonderful winter sports. There are numerous ski resorts around the lake from the north to the south and east. Folks come from around the world to partake in the combination of skiing and entertainment that Tahoe provides to the winter traveler. The most famous of the ski resorts include Squaw Valley, home of the 1960 winter Olympics, and Heavenly Valley where the lifts rise up practically from the south shore of the lake and cover some amazing vistas from the top of the chairlifts.

In the summertime the high mountains are alive with bikers, swimmers, boaters, fisherman, hikers, and folks coming to relax amid the splendor and comfort of a Lake Tahoe summer time. You can sit by the lake and have lunch, ride your bicycle high into the mountains, golf amid the pine trees, try your luck fishing deep into the depths of Lake Tahoe, rent a raft and float down a river, or visit historic towns like Truckee.

There is something for everyone at Lake Tahoe. You can rent luxury houses and properties for the night or the month. You can stay in casino reports in South Lake Tahoe or in Incline Village on the north side. Some might want to find more modest and cozy quarters by renting a cabin in the woods far away from the lights and glamour. Or you can camp by Lake Tahoe and awake to the most amazing sunrise.

Lake Tahoe is a great place to vacation year after year. With plenty of things to do for the whole family a timeshare might be an option for you.
